World Music Festival

Sunday 12 May, 9.45am and 12.30pm, The Anvil Basingstoke

The Hampshire Music Education Hub has teamed up with Anvil Arts for a day of vibrant and exciting world music workshops. Open to all abilities, participants can try their hand at everything from Gamelan to steel drums. Take a look at the festival’s workshop timetable for more information:

HCYWE Concert with the Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Portsmouth

Sunday 19 May, 4pm, Barton Hall Horndean Technology College

The Hampshire County Youth Wind Ensembles will be joined by the Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Portsmouth on 19 May in a joint concert. With numbers performed by each ensemble as well as some joint numbers, the quality of playing will be exceptional. The event is free to attend, please come along and show your support.

Andover Jamboree

Sunday 16 June, 1.30-5pm, All Saints Church Upper Clatford

Brass, string, woodwind and percussion players of grade/stage 1-4 standard are invited to join HMS in a day of orchestral playing, ending in a concert for parents. This is a great opportunity for young musicians to gain confidence and new skills performing with other likeminded individuals. Places on the day are free of charge. The Arts Society Winchester - Composition Competition

Calling all young composers! The Arts Society Winchester is inviting young composers age 16-19 to write a piece of music inspired by John Ruskin’s life-size watercolour of a kingfisher. Local art classes

Satdeep Grewel, a local artist, will be running a range of drawing and painting art classes and trails for children in Fleet. 2nd STEM Returners programme with Fluor in Farnborough

Have you taken a career break from an engineering or a technical sector and wish to return? Are you working below your experience in a different sector? Do you have an engineering or technical degree that you aren’t using? Do you just wish to transfer sectors but don’t have any experience? If so this could be the opportunity for you!  After the unprecedented success of the first programme, we are currently sourcing candidates for the 2nd Fluor ‘STEM Returners’ programme, a 13 week, fully paid and supported return to work programme starting in September 2019 in Farnborough.  All candidates will also have the opportunity to obtain a permanent role at the end of the programme.  No career break is too long, register to return to STEM today! Get Musical – music and theatre opportunity for secondary and sixth form students

This summer, Hampshire Music Service will be running a week of musical theatre workshops at Wildern School, Hedge End. The senior strand of the week is open to all students in secondary school and to sixth form students currently in year 12 and will give an in-depth experience of musical theatre performance and a chance to give creative input in a collaborative project.

The programme would be valuable experience for any students currently, or considering, studying performing arts subjects at GCSE, A-Level or university. The week will be running 12-16 August 2019, 10am-4pm with a Friday evening performance and places cost £135 for the week. For more information, please visit the website:

Crookham Village Twinning Group

The group are looking to welcome new families to get involved with the annual weekend of activities that take place between 7-10 June this year.  Crookham Village has been twinned with Lévignen in northern France since 1983, and the group takes part in a reciprocal family exchange weekend in May/June each year.  Those passionate about France and all things French can opt to host a French family for the weekend or just join in the activities locally.  Next year it will be the group’s turn to travel to France.  For further details, please contact Rick Spink on 01252 816348
